BIGZ board upload fails with stk500_getsync() not in sync: resp=0x3a

Customer:

I received a BIGZ microcontroller board as part of educational materials for a technical course. The box also contains a robotic platform. I found your contact information on the packaging. The problem is with one board that cannot upload a program to the microcontroller - it produces an error. The computer detects the port when I plug the board into USB. Is there a way to resolve this error?

[name removed]

This is our product that we developed for BIGZ. We need more details, as you may have received one of the prototypes since boards from series production have not yet been delivered. Can you send a photo of the board? What setup instructions do you have? What error are you getting? Have you installed the board definition in your Arduino IDE?

Jeste li instalirali board definition u Vaš Arduino IDE?

The board was working and was connected to a robotic construction where it performed the assigned movement. After powering down and restarting the robot, it stopped sending signals to the motors. We connected it to the computer to change code parameters, but code upload is not possible. This is the error text:

Arduino: 1.8.13 (Windows Store 1.8.42.0) (Windows 10), Board: “BIGZ:bot, ATtiny804, 20 MHz, Enabled (default timer), 1.8V (5 MHz or less), Disabled, Disabled, Closer to 5v, TX:8, RX:9, UPDI (powercycle to enter bootloader)”
Sketch uses 914 bytes (11%) of program storage space. Maximum is 8192 bytes.
Global variables use 10 bytes (1%) of dynamic memory, leaving 502 bytes for local variables. Maximum is 512 bytes.

Can you send a screenshot from the Tools menu in Arduino IDE? Does the board still appear as a serial port?

Original message (Serbian)

Customer:

I’m sending the requested image. One of the boards is recognized by the computer, but the other one produces an error.

Original message (Serbian)

Poštovani, šaljem vam traženu sliku. Dobio sam juče od urednice BIGZ-a još dve pločice. Definitivno nešto nije u redu. Jednu računar prepoznaje, a kod druge javlja grešku.

Soldered Support:

Everything appears to be configured correctly. It seems the microcontroller on the board has been damaged, likely due to static electricity. Unfortunately, without replacing the chips on the board, there is currently no way to fix it. I will check how I can best help you and will contact you again.

Original message (Serbian)
