Croduino Basic 2 USB device not recognized on Windows 7

Customer:

I received a Croduino Basic 2 board and couldn’t connect it to my computer. I sent it back and received a replacement, but it has the same problem. When I connect it, I get a USB device not recognized message. The driver is installed for Windows: Windows driver package Silicon Laboratories Ports (03/19/2014 6.7.0.0).

OS is Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I tried connecting the board to several laptops (all with the same OS) and replaced the USB cable but without success. When I connect the board to the laptop, the blue power LED lights constantly, and the orange LED at pin 13 flashes briefly when connected and then stays on after a few seconds.

I’m sending you a photo - I noticed small solder balls on the legs of one component (CP 2102).

Dobar dan,

Evo ja sam stigao doma pa vam pisem da rijesimo problem sa croduino basic 2 plocicom. Samo kratko: prvi put kad sam dobio plocicu nisam je uspio spojiti sa kompjuterom. Plocicu sam poslao vama nazad i dobio sam zamjensku koja mi ima isti problem. Kada ju prikljucim daje mi poruku USB device not recognized. Driver je instaliran za windows, windows driver package silicone laboratories (slabenm) ports (03/19/2014 6.7.0.0).

OS je windows 7 ultimate 64 bit. Pokusao sam spojiti plocicu na vise laptopa (svi imaju isti OS) i zamijenio sam usb kabel ali bez uspjeha. Kada spojim plocicu na laptop plava ledica power svijetli stalno, narancasta ledica kod pina 13 sasvijetli jedanput kratko kada se spoji i onda nakon par sekundi flasha stalno.

Saljem vam i sliku, primjetio sam na jednom elementu (cp 2102) na nozicama male kuglice od lema ako vam to nesto indicira.

The LEDs are lighting as they should.

“Device not recognized” would mean the USB is fine, but the computer cannot recognize it because it doesn’t have support for that device = no proper drivers.

Did you follow the driver installation tutorial? Have you tried the board on a computer with a different OS?

žao mi je zbog nastalih problema.. i po drugi puta.

LEDice svijetle kako bi i trebale.

“Device not recignized” bi značilo da je USB ispravan, ali računalo ne može prepoznati jer nema podršku za taj uređaj = nema dobre drivere.

Možete li možda probati pločicu na računalu s nekim drugim OS?

I installed the driver according to the tutorial you provided. Everything installed correctly and I got a message at the end that everything was installed ok. Once the computer recognized it and I was able to upload the Blink code and the LED started blinking according to the code. After that it ejected the board and the OS no longer recognizes it at all, I tried connecting it at least 20 times. I tested the board on my friend’s laptop with Windows 10 and it recognized it properly every time.

Now when I connect the board to my laptop, the LED flashes according to the Blink program that was previously uploaded but it’s not recognized. USB device not recognized.

Can you tell me if I can set some settings manually so the OS recognizes the Croduino board or any solution for my problem?

Dobar dan,

Driver sam instalirao prema tutorijalu koji ste naveli u mailu. Sve mi je ispravno instalirano i dobijem poruku na kraju instalacije da je sve ok instalirano. Jedanput mi ga je kompjuter prepoznao i uspio sam uploadad Blink code i ledica je pocela blinkadi po codu. Nakon toga mi je izbacilo plocicu i vise mi je OS ne prepoznaje nikako, pokusao sam najmanje 20tak puta spojit ju. Provao sam plocicu spojit na prijateljev laptop OS je windows 10 i svaki put ga uredno prepozna.

Sada kada spojim pločicu na moj laptop ledica flasha po programu blink koji je predhodno uploadan ali ju ne prepoznaje. USB device not recognized.

Mozete mi reci da li mogu postavit neke postavke manualno da OS prepozna croduino pločicu ili neko rjesenje za moj problem?

Once your system recognizes the Croduino, manually select the COM port (described in the tutorial).

You don’t need the last part about adding new port numbers.

Nakon što Vam sustav prepozna Croduino, ručno odaberite COM port(opisano je u tutorijalu)

Zadnji dio s dodavanjem novih port brojeva Vam ne treba.

I tried everything as you instructed and reset the ports.

Now it works a bit better - before it didn’t recognize the board at all. The board is recognized maybe once every ten times, otherwise it shows USB device not recognized. Sometimes it recognizes it with an exclamation mark in a triangle (image attached). Then after five or six tries it recognizes it and I upload code and it works ok, but the next time I change something in the code like how long the LED will be on, I can’t upload it, it gives an error (image attached), different errors every time. I set the Arduino IDE to the COM port that the computer recognizes and set it to Arduino Nano board.

So it works every 10-15 times and every time I want to upload new code I have to disconnect the board and try again about ten times until it recognizes it.

Since I was disappointed with the Croduino board, I ordered an Arduino UNO board and tested it. It works flawlessly without error, which all seems a bit strange to me.

evo probao sam sve kako ste naveli u mailu, resetirao sam portove.

Sada radi malo bolje, prije mi uopce nije prepoznavao plocicu. Pločicu

mi prepozna svaki možda deseti put, inace izbacuje USB device not

recognized. Neki put ju prepozna sa uskličnikom u trokutu (attachirana

je slika). Onda nakon pet sest puta ju prepozna pa uplodam code i radi

ok, vec slijedeci put kad promjenim u kodu npr koliko ce ledica biti

upaljena vec ga ne mogu uplodati, daje problem (slika attachirana),

svaki put razlicite errore. Arduino ide sam postavio na COM koji ga

computer prepozna i na arduino nano pločicu.

Znaci radi svaki 10. 15. put i svaki put kad zelim uplodad slijedeci

cod moram odspajati pločicu i opet pokusavat desetak puta dok ju ne

prepozna.

Pošto sam se razocarao u croduino pločicu narucio sam arduino uno

plocicu i probao. Ona radi bezprijekorno bez greske pa mi sve malo

čudno.

Honestly, this is the first time I’ve seen a problem like this, which is why I asked a colleague for help. This is especially supported by the fact that you said it works well on your colleague’s computer, while it doesn’t work well for you - which shows the error is somewhere in the drivers. We just need to find where exactly.

I understand you’ve already spent quite a bit of time on this and have no more patience/time - all clear. I’m sorry, but I don’t know what else to do remotely. If it’s convenient for you sometime in the future and you’re near Osijek, feel free to stop by and we can test it in person.

iskreno, meni je prvi puta da vidim ovakav problem zbog čega sam i tražio kolegu za pomoć. Posebno tome ide u prilog baš to što ste rekli da radi dobro na računalu Vašeg kolege, dok kod Vas ne radi dobro - što pokazuje da je greška negdje u driverima. Samo treba pronaći gdje točno…

Razumijem da ste već dosta vremena izgubili na ovo i nema više strpljenja/vremena - sve jasno :slight_smile: žao mi je, ali ne znam što više napraviti ovako preko daljine. Ako Vam bude zgodno nekada u budućnosti i budete blizu, slobodno navratite do nas u Osijeku pa ćemo uživo isprobati.
