Customer:
I have a question about incorrect drivers bricking my Croduino Basic V1.0. I’m getting an error that the device is not responding - specifically its FTDI FT232R controller. I found a way to fix it online but I’m not sure if it applies to my case. Could you send me the values for MProg-Multi Device EEPROM Programmer if needed? I can provide screenshots if necessary. I need this device for a competition.

Are you using Windows OS? If I understand correctly, the fastest solution would be to uninstall the drivers - https://e-radionica.com/hr/blog/2015/08/19/kako-deinstalirati-ftdi-drivere/
Windows can have issues when assigning virtual ports, it would be good to clean/reset COM ports as well - https://e-radionica.com/hr/blog/2015/08/28/kako-ocistitiresetirati-com-portove/
If I’m wrong, please send screenshots so we can resolve your problem quickly.

I tried what you suggested but it didn’t work.
The first screenshot shows default settings for Product ID and uses old drivers, and in the second the Product ID has changed to the same value as when I first connected the device and uses new drivers.
I checked the configuration and nothing else was modified.
I also tested in a virtual machine with Linux OS and the same error appears.

i pogledao konfiguraciju ostalo nije uređivano

That’s right, the problem is with the Product ID. One batch of our FTDI chips (50 or 100 units) that we purchased from a third-party source turned out to be counterfeit. When anyone with such a chip connects it to a computer with drivers newer than 2.12.00, the Product ID of that FTDI chip changes to 0000 and it becomes practically unusable.
The solution is: uninstall the drivers and reinstall a version older than 2.12.00. Everything will work. Don’t try to modify the PID, it will work with 0000.
