Croduino: shaft rotation detector with relay output

Customer:

I need a sensor recommendation for monitoring shaft rotation. The sensor would mount mechanically at the end of a shaft that rotates slowly, approximately 20 RPM. I need a relay output to signal whether the shaft is rotating or not. I want to build a control unit where a green indicator lights up for a shaft that is rotating, and a red indicator lights up when the shaft stops.

Zahvaljujem.

Soldered Support:

This can be accomplished using a magnet and a magnetic field sensor (Hall effect sensor). Mount the magnet on the shaft, and each time the shaft completes one full rotation, the sensor will detect the magnet. You can then connect this to a Croduino and implement whatever logic you need with it.
