Dasduino Core upload.tool.serial property undefined error

Customer:

I’ve followed the driver installation instructions and board definitions for Dasduino Core in Windows 10. When I try to upload, I get this error:

Property ‘upload.tool.serial’ is undefined

Google searches haven’t helped. What can I do?

This can happen randomly when using Arduino IDE. Try deleting cached contents in your local Arduino folder:

  1. Open Arduino IDE: Start by opening the Arduino IDE on your computer.
  2. Open Preferences: Go to File > Preferences (on Windows) or Arduino > Preferences (on macOS).
  3. Find the Preferences File: In the Preferences window, at the bottom, you’ll see a link to the preferences file. Click on it to open the folder containing the preferences file.
  4. Close Arduino IDE: Before proceeding, close the Arduino IDE to avoid any conflicts.
  5. Navigate to the Packages Folder: In the folder that opened, go up one level to the Arduino15 or similar folder. Look for a packages folder within it.
  6. Delete Dasduino Board Definitions: Inside the packages folder, you will find subfolders for each of the board platforms you have installed. Delete the folder(s) corresponding to the board definitions for Dasduino AVR boards (which is Dasduino Core).
  7. Clearing Cache: Locate Cache Folder: Still within the Arduino15 or similar folder, look for the cache folder.
  8. Delete Cache Contents: Open the cache folder and delete its contents to clear the cache.

Then reinstall the board definitions and try uploading again.

That didn’t work, but reverting to Arduino IDE version 1.x did solve the problem.
