Day/night switch for 12V LED light with minimal power consumption

Customer:

Looking for an electronic switch to turn on an LED light at night and turn it off during the day. The light replaces a 12V/10W automotive bulb. Everything is powered by a 12V battery, and minimal power consumption is essential since the switch needs to operate daily and ideally the battery should last at least 14 days. Alternatively, a lower-power LED could be used instead.

Soldered Support:

Just to clarify: you’re looking for an automated day/night switch that turns on at night and deactivates during the day for a load of around 1-2W (an LED replacement)?

Customer:

Correct, a day/night switch. The 10W bulb has been replaced with an appropriate LED (LED with the same socket for 12V) so we’re talking about approximately 1-2W power consumption. Unfortunately I don’t know the exact specification—I would need to check the LED in use.

Točno, prekidač dan/noć, no ne 10W snage žarulje, već

We don’t have a ready-made solution, but we have a very simple circuit that will do what you need: Dark/Light sensor using transistor – BuildCircuit.COM

Instead of BC547 you can use 2N2222 (which we stock) and the power supply can be 12V. You will need a light-dependent resistor (LDR) and several resistors.

Trebat ćete fotootpornik i nekoliko otpornika.
