Customer:
I have a few questions about the Ethernet Shield:
-
I can’t find the MAC address on this shield. How should I determine it?
-
For future shipments of the Ethernet Shield, would it be possible to have the ICSP connector soldered on the top side of the board, as a male connector (on the bottom side), or not soldered at all? The current implementation is quite impractical.
-
Do you have any documentation on connecting the Ethernet module directly to a PC using a crossover cable, for testing without a router?
Thank you for your help.

Molim vas za još nekoliko informacija u vezi Ethernet shielda:
-
LP,

You can set the MAC address yourself if it’s not written on the shield.

Since this shield is not from our production, we unfortunately cannot modify the connector. It’s currently designed to connect with a 2x3 male connector, which is standard on full-sized Arduino shields. If it helps, we can (more or less neatly) desolder the connector so you can install whatever suits you best.

I haven’t used it myself, but I believe it should work out of the box. Here’s a brief explanation of how to configure it: https://arduino.stackexchange.com/questions/22700/connecting-ethernet-shield-to-computer
Of course, with a crossover cable as you mentioned. A router would normally handle this automatically. On the Arduino side, you can use the Ethernet library like with any other Ethernet code. Unfortunately I’d have to try it myself to be 100% certain.

naravno s crossover kabelom, kako i sami kažete. Ruter to inače automatski odradi..
