Inkplate 10 compilation error with glcdfont.c 'font' unused variable

Customer:

I’ve followed the Quickstart Guide for the Inkplate 10, but when I try to upload the basic Hello World example, I get a string of errors and the compiler exits. I’m using the most up to date version of the Arduino IDE and Inkplate Library, with the correct board and port selected.

The first error is:

c:\Users\[user]\Documents\Arduino\libraries\InkplateLibrary\src\libs\Adafruit-GFX-Library\glcdfont.c:22:28: error: 'font' defined but not used
static const unsigned char font[] PROGMEM = {
^~~~
cc1.exe: some warnings being treated as errors

Any ideas?

Soldered Support:

The error shows the compiler is treating a warning as an error due to unused code in one of the dependencies (Adafruit-GFX-Library), specifically a constant array called font.

Try these steps:

Temporarily remove other libraries:
Sometimes other Arduino libraries can interfere with the Inkplate library, especially if they include older or conflicting versions of shared dependencies like Adafruit-GFX. Go to your Documents/Arduino/libraries folder and temporarily move all libraries except for the Inkplate library to another folder. Restart the Arduino IDE and try compiling the Inkplate 10 > Basic > Hello World example again.

Double-check you’re using Arduino IDE 2.0 or later:
Inkplate works best with Arduino IDE 2.0+. If you’re unsure which version you have, download the latest IDE from the official Arduino website.

Turn on verbose output for more clues:
Go to File > Preferences. Enable “Show verbose output during compilation” and “Show verbose output during upload”. Then try uploading again and share the complete output. This will give more context to identify exactly what’s going wrong.

Let us know how it goes.
