Inkplate 10 CPL and BOM file formats and 3D case files

Customer:

I was looking through the open source hardware schematics and the CPL file is not available. Is this something you would be interested in generating and sharing?

We can send you CPL data but need to know which version of Inkplate you have. Can you send a picture of the board, so we can see which version is your board?

Customer:

It’s an Inkplate 10. Here is a pic of the board.

I had the position file exported from KiCad. Also, I send you gerber files.

Customer:

Can you also send the BOM file from that export? I attempted to use the BOM from GitHub, but I get the error “The BOM file doesn’t match the CPL file, please check and re-upload the files.”

Here is the BOM file. On the right side down (below the wake-up button) you can read the version number. From the previous photo, I think that you have the V1.3.0 version of the board. Please confirm that. Maybe you used the BOM file for the wrong version of the board.

Customer:

You’re right about the version. Using these files you’ve shared, I’m now encountering the following errors:

  1. K49,R45,C12,C48 designators don’t exist in the CPL file.
  2. No header row found, please include the below info in the header row. Designator, Mid X, Mid Y, Layer, Rotation.

It looks like the first issue can be ignored, although I don’t understand the consequence of ignoring it. The bigger issue seems to be the second one, it looks like the CPL csv file isn’t formatted in the way that’s expected.

Soldered Support:

I have checked the CPL file, and it contains all the components you listed. The header is visible in the image. When the CSV file is opened, the first row is the header. The image is from a text editor, so the text in the columns is not aligned.

I also noticed the 3D printable cases STL files on GitHub do not resemble the cases sold today. Would you be willing to make those STLs available?

Soldered Support:

I checked GitHub and files in version V1.3.1 is the last version of the case. You have in the CAD folder source files for the 3D case and STEP files.
