Customer:
I’m planning to combine two Inkplate 10 boards into a larger display. I have several questions:
- Can the bottom of the PCB (the edge with the buttons) be cut off while keeping the rest of the board functional? From the images, I don’t see any traces related to the rest of the board in that area.
- What’s a recommended method for cutting the PCB?
- Is the E-Ink display flexible?
- How is the E-Ink display adhered to the PCB?
For future versions, I’d suggest placing all interfaces, buttons, GPIO headers, etc. along one edge to free up the rest of the board for reshaping.
I’m also curious whether a future Inkplate version with touch or stylus support is possible.

Regarding your PCB modification questions:
-
You wouldn’t cut anything - you’d just leave some traces open. Be careful not to short one trace to another or to ground. Cover any exposed copper to avoid oxidation.
-
Use a metal saw with small teeth to get a clear cut. Wear breathing protection.
-
E-paper is not flexible.
-
The e-paper is attached to the PCB using double-sided adhesive. It can be loosened using isopropyl alcohol if needed.
Regarding your suggestions: a bezel-free version is indeed being considered for future releases. Inkplate 6PLUS will feature a full touchscreen and was launched as a Crowd Supply campaign.
