After using the epub reader for a while, I connected the Inkplate 10 to a wall charger. The charger got hot and the screen became black and is not responding to any uploaded examples. I’m considering replacing the screen like you would with a smartphone. Is this possible, and do you have a recommended screen that would be compatible with the Inkplate 10 hardware?

Yes, this is absolutely possible and much easier than replacing a smartphone screen. For Inkplate 10, these are the compatible ePapers:
ED097OC1
ED097OC4
ED097TC2
You can easily find them online. They need to be attached via the flat connector on the back of the device. When you attach it, I recommend calibrating the waveform using the Inkplate10->diagnostics->waveform_eeprom_programming, which will give you optimal picture quality on your new panel.

Do you have any recommendations for loosening the screen? A friend suggested using a hair blower. Are there other tips?

I consulted with colleagues in production about this. They recommend trying alcohol or acetone with a scalpel to get the old display off. They also mentioned there’s a good chance the old display might crack, but since it’s defective anyway, this shouldn’t be a concern.
