Inkplate 10 touchpads firing without contact

Customer:

I received the Inkplate 10 and tested out the touchpads project with Arduino IDE. The 3D printed frame seems to cause the touchpads to fire. Is this expected?

Soldered Support:

Sometimes the IC which detects touch has the wrong calibration and then it triggers without touch. The touch IC measures the capacitance of the touchpad. On the first start, it calibrates to the measured capacitance, and for touch detection uses that measured capacitance as a reference. If the touch IC has wrong readings for the reference capacitance then it detects touch all the time.

You need to discharge the capacitor near the touch IC. To do that, turn off the Inkplate from the power supply (USB and battery) and short the capacitance next to the touch IC. Use a little wire or something metal to connect the two pads of the capacitor. After doing that on all three ICs, you can turn on the Inkplate and see if that helps.
