I’ve had trouble getting Arduino IDE to work—it keeps showing different errors and runs slowly. I tried switching to PlatformIO, but it’s also giving errors that suggest it’s not set up correctly. I set up a small repo at GitHub - jhoskins98/ink2_basic: Inkplate2 basic setup for Platform IO · GitHub which fails on the first Inkplate reference. What’s the best place to ask for support?

Soldered Support:
This forum is the correct place for support. Since the PlatformIO library hasn’t been updated in a while, we recommend Arduino IDE instead. You can also use it through VSCode with the Arduino extension.
To get started:
- Install Arduino IDE Legacy version 1.8.18 from https://www.arduino.cc/en/software/OldSoftwareReleases
- Install the Inkplate library and board definitions following Inkplate Get Started Page — Inkplate docs documentation
- Connect your Inkplate2 and select the correct COM port and Inkplate 2 board definitions
- Try running the black/white/red example—it should compile
- If upload fails, try lowering the baud rate to 115200
Let me know what specific errors you encounter.

Error compiling for board Soldered Inkplate2.
I’m not sure what’s causing this. The Arduino experience overall feels buggy and slow.
Soldered Support:
There should not be an Inkplate 3.cpp file in the Inkplate library’s src folder. You can verify what should be there at Inkplate-Arduino-library/src at master · SolderedElectronics/Inkplate-Arduino-library · GitHub
Navigate to /Users/[user]/Documents/Arduino/libraries/InkplateLibrary/src/Inkplate 3.cpp and delete it. Better yet, manually reinstall the library by downloading the repository and placing it in the Inkplate-Arduino-Library folder to ensure you have the latest files.
Once you fix this compile issue, you can consider switching to VSCode with the Arduino extension for a better development experience—it offers intellisense, CTRL+click, and other features. Find the extension at https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=vsciot-vscode.vscode-arduino
