Inkplate 2 ESPHome support and display model details

Customer:

I would like to use the Inkplate 2 display with ESPHome. I’ve already created merge requests for Inkplate 5 and 10 (Support inkplate 5 and 5 V2 by DavidSichau · Pull Request #7448 · esphome/esphome · GitHub). However, the Inkplate 2 display seems to be completely different - there is no waveform. Could you provide guidance on how to use it with ESPHome, or share some examples?

Soldered Support:

Inkplate 2 is a SPI based display. You can see the driver in the Inkplate library:

The sendData function is important - this is where you can see how the data is sent to the ePaper via the ePaperSPI object.

Customer:

Would it be possible to share the manufacturer details of the display? It seems from the specs very similar to a Waveshare 2.13 display, which is supported by ESPHome. Knowing more details about the display would help a lot.

Soldered Support:

The Inkplate 5 e-Paper model is ED052TC2. For Inkplate5V2/Inkplate5Gen2 (both refer to the same product), it is ED052TC4.

Official ports of Inkplate on ESPHome are planned and will be based on community ports like yours.

You can find the details for the driver for the e-Paper in the library, such as Inkplate5V2:
