Inkplate 2 MicroPython setup: could not enter raw repl error

Customer:

I’m following the setup instructions from the MicroPython repository. After flashing the ESP32 with esptool, when I run the pyboard.py command to copy the files, I get a “could not enter raw repl” error:

C:\Users\[user]\Inkplate-micropython-master>python pyboard.py --device COM11 -f cp inkplate2.py gfx.py gfx_standard_font_01.py mcp23017.py PCAL6416A.py image.py shapes.py soldered_logo.py

Soldered Support:

When you get the ‘could not enter raw repl’ error, try running the command again. The readme notes that this command may have to be started twice.

Customer:

I re-ran the command as instructed, but now I’m getting a different error. After running pyboard.py twice, the second attempt shows:

cp :inkplate2.py soldered_logo.py
Traceback (most recent call last):
 File "", line 1, in
OSError: [Errno 2] ENOENT

The command I ran was:

python pyboard.py --device COM11 -f cp inkplate2.py gfx.py gfx_standard_font_01.py mcp23017.py PCAL6416A.py image.py shapes.py soldered_logo.py

Soldered Support:

I tested this myself. Make sure you’re running the pyboard.py command in the MicroPython folder. The working command includes a semicolon at the end:

python pyboard.py --device COM10 -f cp inkplate2.py gfx.py gfx_standard_font_01.py image.py shapes.py soldered_logo.py :

Note the : at the end of the command.
