Inkplate 5 board definition stuck downloading in Arduino IDE 2.1.1

Customer:

I’m trying to install the Inkplate 5 board definition via Arduino IDE 2.1.1, but the installation gets stuck at “Processing Inkplate Boards: 7.1.0: Downloading packages”. I’ve tried installing older versions with the same result. It appears the required files may be missing.

Soldered Support:

Try clearing the Arduino cache first. Navigate to C:\Users[user]\AppData\Local\Arduino15. Alternatively, type %AppData% in the Windows search bar, go to ‘Local’, and find the Arduino15 folder. You can optionally back up the Arduino15 folder by copying it to a different location. Inside the Arduino15 folder, find and delete the following to clear the cache:

  • cache folder: Contains temporary cached data
  • staging folder: Contains downloaded libraries and board information

You can also delete the entire Arduino15 folder, but this will remove all custom settings and installed libraries/boards.

After clearing this, open the Arduino IDE. It will rebuild the cache and reinitialize settings. Then add back the board definition and try to install the boards again.

If this doesn’t work, install Arduino IDE Legacy from https://www.arduino.cc/en/software/OldSoftwareReleases, which is the version we use.
