Soldered Support:

ESPHome support for Inkplate is community-contributed and not officially maintained by Soldered. Looking at your logs, the PCA6416A GPIO expander configuration appears correct:

pca6416a:
  - id: pca6416a_hub
    address: 0x20

This is the correct configuration for the new version of Inkplates with the GPIO expander hub, so this is not the issue.

You can try using the esp exception decoder to decode the backtrace. If you have the .bin file built by ESPHome, check the README for usage instructions.

The best supported platform for Inkplate is the Arduino library: GitHub - SolderedElectronics/Inkplate-Arduino-library: Inkplate family Arduino library. The easiest way to add e-paper to your project. · GitHub

The screen does refresh and display the updated elements, but then the device reboots. I will grab the .bin file and try the exception decoder. If I can’t seem to figure it out from there, I will leverage the Arduino library.

If you do explore the Arduino library, check out the open meteo example as a reference—many good new projects were added in the recent update: Inkplate-Arduino-library/examples/Inkplate5V2/Projects/Inkplate5V2_OpenMeteo_Weather_Station/Inkplate5V2_OpenMeteo_Weather_Station.ino at master · SolderedElectronics/Inkplate-Arduino-library · GitHub
