Inkplate 5 v2 TPS65186 PMIC failure and display longevity

Customer:

I was in contact with the distributor who will refund the defective boards. Do you have functional boards on stock with working TPS65186 PMIC?

Soldered Support:

Yes, the TPS65186 chip failure can happen sometimes but it’s clearly not expected. All working Inkplate boards have this functioning chip. Let me know which Inkplate models you’re interested in, and I can have them be additionally tested before they’re shipped out.

Customer:

I’ve placed an order for 4 units. How can you guarantee that the display will work long-term?

Soldered Support:

Each unit is tested when it leaves our manufacturing to ensure it works. E-paper displays have a relatively long lifespan depending on how often you refresh them. Constant non-stop partial updates might wear the display out, but using it in standard e-paper usage - for example updating every 10 minutes and mixing partial and full updates to preserve the screen - will keep your e-paper running for years.
