Inkplate 6 MOTION upload times out waiting for acknowledgement

Customer:

I’ve successfully installed the STM32 Programmer and Dasduino with Arduino on Linux, and Arduino can see the Inkplate 6 MOTION. However, when I try to program after hitting the program button, I get a timeout error while waiting for acknowledgement. Is there a time limit between pressing the program button and upload start? Does it need to be held down? Are there specific upload method settings or serial defaults I should be using?

The upload attempt seems to have done something, as the default intro program is no longer running.

When the switch is set to BOOT 0:
Serial Port ttyUSB0 is successfully opened.
Port configuration: parity = even, baudrate = 230400, data-bit = 8, stop-bit = 1.0, flow-control = off
Timeout error occured while waiting for acknowledgement.
Timeout error occured while waiting for acknowledgement.
Error: Activating device: KO. Please, verify the boot mode configuration and check the serial port configuration. Reset your device then try again…
Failed uploading: uploading error: exit status 1

When the switch is set to BOOT 1:
RUNNING Program …
Address: : 0x8000000
Timeout error occured while waiting for acknowledgement.
Error: START command not acknowledged!
Error: Start operation failed
Failed uploading: uploading error: exit status 1

When I use Get Board Info it returns:

SN: (null)

Soldered Support:

First, are you using Arduino 2.0 or newer? This is required for Inkplate 6 MOTION.

If the default intro program is no longer running, that means code has been uploaded or at least partially uploaded.

When you plug Inkplate via USB and open the Serial monitor at 115200 baud, and press the PROG button, it should print “Programming mode active.” on Serial. This means code can be written via USB. You do not need to exit programming mode after that.

Try uploading one of the basic examples: Basic->Inkplate_6_Motion_Simple_BW. If that doesn’t work, try uploading an entirely blank sketch. We’ve heard reports that sketch size can affect the ability to upload code to Inkplate.

Let me know how this goes and we’ll proceed from there.
