Customer:
I’m trying to wake the Inkplate 6 MOTION from deep sleep using a PIR sensor connected via easyC. From the docs and schematic, it looks like I’d need to use PC13 / WAKEUP_PIN4 for this. JP2 seems to bridge the onboard wake button to PC13 — should I open that (desolder or cut) to safely use the pin for external wake? Is there a better path, especially if the easyC PIR breakout can trigger wake without needing hardware mods?

Your estimation of how the wakeup via pin works is correct. Disconnect JP2 and then to PC13 you can wire the interrupt from the PIR sensor.
However, if you have the PIR sensor via easyC, it only communicates via I2C lines which can’t itself trigger an interrupt. You would need to get the digital output from the sensor and take that wire back to Inkplate to PC13.
There is also an issue where the PIR sensor would consume current during deep sleep and while Inkplate would be in deep sleep it would constantly be reading, taking up a lot of power.
This kind of setup would be harder to make in the way that you envisioned. Consider using the onboard Inkplate 6 MOTION gesture sensor to trigger an interrupt to wake up instead.
