Inkplate 6 not recognized in Arduino IDE or device manager

Customer:

My computer doesn’t recognize the Inkplate 6 in my device manager, even after downloading the recommended driver.

Soldered Support:

Inkplate 6 should appear as a generic USB device or a CH340 USB device (the chip you installed the driver for). However, the more important check is whether you can find it in Arduino IDE in the ‘Tools’ menu under ‘Select Port’. Are you able to upload any example code to the board?

Customer:

It does not appear in the IDE.

Soldered Support:

Here are some things to check:

  • Are you using the cable provided with Inkplate? Try that one, but also try a different USB-C cable if you have one available.
  • Does the board power on when you plug the device in and hit the power button? The power LED should light up.
  • Would it be possible for you to try a different computer?

Let me know if any of these resolve the issue.
