Inkplate 6 PLUS reboots repeatedly, no error in Serial Monitor

Customer:

I’ve tried the suggestions from the previous message, but the rebooting problem persists. With a fresh install of Arduino Legacy 1.8 and debug level set to Verbose, there are no concerning error messages at the moment of reboot. The serial monitor just shows some messages and then the display reboots. I don’t have any peripheral devices connected, only the display itself.

Soldered Support:

The ESP32 microcontroller on the Inkplate will print a message to Serial at 115200 baud when it turns on with the exact reason why it turned on. Here’s an example of what these messages look like:

It shows deepsleep reset and poweron reset - which are causes of why Inkplate got turned on. These should always print. If they don’t print, it could be because you’re using the SD card peripheral. If you have that enabled, it won’t print this kind of message due to the hardware.

Since you know your way around your source code, I recommend adding a lot of calls to:

Serial.println("debug message"); Serial.flush();

to your code to show you exactly where it stops. Serial.flush() is used to make sure that everything in the serial monitor gets sent before the code continues. This will give you an indication of where the code stops and maybe why.

You can add this useful function to print the wakeup reason at startup: How can I read the reset reason · Issue #449 · espressif/arduino-esp32 · GitHub
