Inkplate 6COLOR power button broken, USB not recognized

Customer:

Two-week-old board. The first USB-C cable would power it on, but now the power light will not turn on with USB-C inserted. It does light up with a 3.7 LiPo in the battery socket. The blue LED lights up with either method. I notice the power button is only a round point in the center with one small tab inside the 2mm plastic housing. The PC does not recognize the Inkplate and I cannot upload code. The charging LED (red) is on when the USB-C cable is inserted. Is the board defective?

Soldered Support:

The power button may have snapped off, which can happen. You can bypass the power button by shorting the connection shown in the image. This will make Inkplate always turn on when connected to power. Try this workaround and let me know if you need a different solution.

That’s the issue - the switch is not intact. This workaround will work for me.
