Hi,
I have an Inkplate 6FLICK that consistently fails to initialize its touchscreen. I’ve confirmed this is not a code issue on my end — the official, completely unmodified Inkplate6FLICK_Touchscreen_Serial example from InkplateLibrary v11.1.5 fails identically, printing “Touchscreen init fail” every time.
What I’ve tried, all with the same result:
Multiple full power cycles
Two different USB-C cables
Two different USB ports on my Mac
Manually driving the touch controller’s EN/RST lines and re-attempting init, independent of the library’s own init() sequence
Technical detail: I scanned the I2C bus directly. The touch controller at address 0x24 never acknowledges under any of the above conditions, even with power and reset pulses driven manually. Other I2C devices on the bus (0x20, 0x21, and either 0x48 or 0x51 depending on state) are detected normally, so the bus itself is working — only the touch controller is silent.
Board details:
MAC address: e8:6b:ea:fb:ea:e8
InkplateLibrary version 11.1.5, Inkplate_Boards:esp32 core 8.1.0
The board’s display/e-ink functionality works correctly — this is isolated specifically to touch
Given this fails identically on your own unmodified example, I believe this points to a hardware fault with the touch controller on this specific unit. Could you advise on next steps, including whether a replacement or repair is possible under warranty?
Thanks,
Kai
