Inkplate 6PLUS stylus pen input and Linux/Android compatibility

Customer:

I’d like to understand if it’s possible to use a stylus pen as an input source on the Inkplate 6PLUS. I’m developing a handwriting app and looking for possibilities to expand the experience to e-ink displays like Remarkable.

This could be done on Inkplate 6PLUS, but it’s a tricky thing to do. This is a microcontroller-based product, while Remarkable is running a full-core Linux. You would probably need to run some kind of RTOS, but that depends on exactly what you are looking to achieve.

I’m studying the possibility of running my handwriting app on an e-ink device. Currently, I have the app running for Android, but I’d be able to compile it for another OS like Linux. I’m doing research trying to find a product to create a POC and validate my idea. Would it be possible to run a full Linux or Android on the Inkplate 6PLUS?

Soldered Support:

You will need to find a ready-to-use e-paper device with touch input running Linux. Unfortunately, I don’t know of any such devices - e-paper is just not so standard yet. Inkplate can’t run full-core Linux or Android. We are tinkering with Raspberry Pi and e-paper, but the outcome is unknown yet.
