Inkplate10 stuck on welcome screen after uploading weather-cal sketch

Customer:

I’m working on the weather-cal project from GitHub - chrisjtwomey/inkplate10-weather-cal: Displays today's date, weather forecast and a stylised map of your city using Inkplate10 (ESP32) · GitHub. Everything works on the server side. Using Visual Studio and PlatformIO I successfully compiled and wrote the weather-cal software to the ESP32 according to the extension, but nothing happens on the display. It only shows the Soldered “Welcome to Inkplate” message. When I power it up it doesn’t refresh or do anything. The blue power light is on, the LI-ION charging light is on (red). A microSD card is inserted with a valid config.yaml and the image it is supposed to display. Reset does nothing, Wake up does nothing, and the power switch works. I’m new to Inkplate and ESP32/Arduino platforms but experienced with Raspberry Pi and LCD displays.

Soldered Support:

Try using a different board definition. If you’re using ‘Soldered Inkplate 10’, try ‘e-Radionica Inkplate 10’ and vice-versa. Make sure you have the latest board definitions and version of the Inkplate library installed. You can find step-by-step instructions in the docs: Inkplate Get Started Page — Inkplate docs documentation

After setting this up, if it still doesn’t work, try the simple example sketches like Inkplate10>Basic>Inkplate10_Black_And_White. They don’t rely on anything else to run and they should always refresh the screen. Also, try uploading with the stock Arduino IDE (version 1.8.19).

Often, the board definition ends up being the issue.

Soldered Support:

The simple examples should upload without adding or installing anything else. All of this software is already bundled with Arduino and the board definitions.

Try lowering your upload speed to 115200 in the ‘Tools’ menu. This has been found to help, especially on Mac.
