Li-ion battery 5000mAh 3.7V MAX17048 charge curve mapping

Customer:

I’m an electronics engineer working on podiatry platforms. I purchased the 5000mAh 3.7V battery and tested it with a board that includes the MAX17048G+T10 component for displaying battery percentage. Using the MAX17048 library and their test code, I fully charged the battery and obtained a maximum reading of 85%. Then I discharged the battery down to 0% (it continued running for 15 minutes at 0%). Do you have a custom curve that I could load into the MAX17048 so I can get a proper 0%–100% display?

Soldered Support:

We don’t have a custom curve for this battery for the MAX17048. You can get the exact curve via self measurement and experimentation. Here is the datasheet: Browse All Categories | Soldered

Which BMS component would you recommend using with this battery to get an accurate 0%-100% reading?

It’s best to use the method mentioned earlier—take measurements to correctly map the voltage to charge %. No battery will be perfect nor will there be a total match as batteries are physical and small differences can affect the curve, so there isn’t an IC which is necessarily better.
