Customer:
I’m interested in your LIN MASTER breakout board.
I have one question about the item description which states: “LIN MASTER serves as a gateway to CAN-bus”. Could you please explain how the conversion from LIN to CAN works?

Soldered Support:
The description is accurate, but it requires a microcontroller, which wasn’t clearly stated.
To use LIN MASTER as a gateway to CAN-bus, you need to:
- Connect the LIN breakout to a microcontroller
- The microcontroller reads data from the LIN breakout
- Send that data to CAN using a CAN breakout
The data conversion from the LIN network to the CAN network happens in the microcontroller. You cannot convert between LIN and CAN networks without a microcontroller to perform the conversion.
