VL53L1X ToF Laser Distance Sensor power supply

Hi for the VL53L1X ToF the correct power supply is a little bit confusing.

I want to operate it with 5V trough the qwiic connector.
In the description/technical specs: Operating Voltage: 2.6V to 3.5V for modern microcontroller compatibility

In the hardware details:

This breakout board operates at 3.3V logic level, but includes an onboard regulator for 5V compatibility so it can be connected to both 3V3 and 5V logic boards!

then there is the jumper (JP) description that to me looks like it is “as delivered” configured to 5V…

Only if you want the 3,3V you have to connect/reconfigure the jumper terminals … for 3.3V connect JP2, JP3, JP4?

Hello Marko,

You cannot use 5V logic over Qwiic because then a voltage of 5V will reach the 3V3 rail, which will damage the VL53L1CBV0FY/1. It operates at a voltage of 3.3V.

Best regards,
Andrej

So there is no way to use the qwiic with 5V? Not even changing the Jumpers? But the pin rail does allow 5V, or? is the pin rail per default wired for 5V operation? That is what I would suppose from the description of the JP connections.
