ATmega328P LoRa Board: avrdude stk500_getsync() error on code upload

Customer:

I purchased an ATmega328P LoRa Board a few months ago and tried to use it for the first time today. I cannot upload code to the board. I’ve tried with an FTDI programmer and with another Arduino (Arduino UNO) in both ISP mode and regular serial mode. When I attempt to upload, I get the errors:

avrdude: stk500_getsync() attempt 1 of 10: not in sync: resp=0x00
avrdude: stk500_recv(): programmer is not responding

"avrdude: stk500_getsync() attempt 1 of 10: not in sync: resp=0x00

avrdude: stk500_recv(): programmer is not responding"

Hvala unaprijed!

Soldered Support:

Can you send a screenshot of your ‘Tools’ menu in Arduino IDE so we can try to troubleshoot if the issue is with your configuration?

Also, have you tried:

  • different USB cables
  • different USB ports on your computer
  • verifying that you selected the correct port in Arduino IDE
  • verifying that you selected the correct board in the board manager

These are the most common upload errors, so it’s always good to double-check them all. Let us know the results and we’ll see what to do next.

Soldered Support:

The board definition you need to have installed is called ATmega328p LORA, not Arduino UNO. This is the link for the board definitions you need to add to Arduino IDE:

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/SolderedElectronics/Croduino-Board-Definitions-for-Arduino-IDE/master/package_Croduino_Boards_index.json

Install the boards and select ATmega328p_LORA in the board manager. Upload should then work via USB first, then you can try the programmer. If using the programmer, try different options in the ‘Programmer’ section of the ‘Tools’ menu if it doesn’t work on the first attempt.

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/SolderedElectronics/Croduino-Board-Definitions-for-Arduino-IDE/master/package_Croduino_Boards_index.json
