ATtiny85 SOP8 SMD bootloader upload fails but DIP8 works

Customer:

I recently bought 5 ATtiny85 SOP8 (SMD) chips from another supplier. When I try to burn the bootloader and upload code to them, it fails completely. However, the same process works without any issues on regular ATtiny85 DIP8 chips. Is it possible these SMD chips are defective, or do they require a different upload method?

Soldered Support:

The SMD chips only have a different signature - everything else should be the same. Perhaps a basic question, but have you double-checked the connections? If you are using some type of programmer, verify the signature and the selected chip.

Ako koristite neku vrstu programera, provjerite signature i odabrani chip.
