Customer:
I have a project powered by a 12V battery with a step-down converter to 4.1V. The project consists of an ESP32, RTC, SIM800L and several sensors. I’m looking for a solution to maximize battery life since the device is in a remote location. I’ve experimented with sleep modes and the TPL5110, but have a problem with sleep mode because the SIM800L must be powered directly from the buck converter, and with the TPL5110 I don’t have control over the exact timing of SMS transmission since the timer’s maximum duration is 2 hours.
The ideal solution for me would be a module like the TPL with very low power consumption, but triggered not by a timer, but by a signal from the RTC. So after the code executes, a done signal from the module, and then power-up again triggered by a signal to the module, but from the RTC’s set alarm time.
Since I’m not a technical person, maybe this is a simple and trivial question. From what I’ve researched, a relay doesn’t seem to be what I’m looking for. Or maybe it is?
Do you have any other recommendations?
