Customer:
I have two issues with a CP2102 USB-UART Adapter. The adapter keeps resetting on its own. The receive data indicator LED remains inactive. I ordered a similar adapter about a year ago which works well, but two new ones are malfunctioning. I noticed the integrated circuits are different even though they use the same drivers. I use them with an SIM800L module - the older one works great, but the two new ones don’t.
Also, I’m having trouble logging into the forum with my account, though I can log into the store normally.

Javljam vam se povodom dva problema:
- Kontroler cp2012 ima problema sa radom. To se manifestira tako da se
kontroler sam resetira. Također vidim da dioda za primanje podataka
miruje.

The adapter I bought a year ago works fine - I’ve replaced the two new ones with it. I’m using the RX, TX, and GND pins from it. I’ve figured out that transmission from the adapter works correctly, but reception doesn’t work (I tested this with Arduino). I also ordered adapters with black cables (the ones currently on sale) which work fine on Linux, but I need this specific project to work on Windows. As a workaround for the serial adapter, I’m using a regular Arduino board with the ATMEL microcontroller removed.
I first noticed the problem in PuTTY when I started a session. Once I send AT to the SIM800L and get a response, but subsequent commands are not received (even if I send just AT again). With the same old adapter, the adapter with black cable, and the serial adapter from the Arduino board, everything works fine on the same SIM800L module.

Thank you for the detailed explanation. Given how you’ve described the problem - it works initially but then fails - this is definitely an unusual issue. Can you connect the RX and TX lines on the CP2102 together and try to send something via Serial Monitor? The same data must “echo back” and be displayed in Serial Monitor. If this always works, then both the CP2102 adapter and IC are functioning, and the error is somewhere else.
