Croduino Basic 2 CP2102 driver installation fails on Windows 8.1

Customer:

I purchased a Croduino Basic 2 and attempted to install the USB UART bridge driver for the CP2102. I downloaded the drivers from your link and followed all the installation steps you provided.

I use Windows 8.1 64-bit on a computer that is about six months old. The problem is that when I start the installation, it never completes - I cannot install the driver. At the end, I get a message that the installation was not successful and it shows a brief error report with nothing concrete in it.

I have researched online but haven’t found any concrete solution. There are mentions that the problem might be in a DLL file and many other guesses.

Please let me know what the problem is and how I can successfully install the driver.

Dobar dan,

kupio sam Vašu Croduino pločicu Basic 2. Pokušao sam instalirati driver za usb uart bridge CP2102. Drivere sam skinuo sa Vašeg linka i pratio sve korake koje ste naveli za njihovu instalaciju.

Inače koristim windowse 8.1 - 64 bitne (računalo je staro pola godine). Problem je u tome da kad pokrenem instalaciju ona nikad nije do kraja provedena tj ne mogu instalirati driver. Na kraju mi samo javlja da instalacija nije uspješno provedena i daje kratki error report u kojemu nista konkretno ne pise.

Istraživao sam po netu ali nisam našao nikakvo konkretno rješenje. Spominje se da je mogići problem u dll datoteci i mnoga druga nagađanja.

Molim Vas da mi javite u ćemu je problem i na koji način mogu uspješno instalirati driver.

Unfortunately, after I enabled driver signature enforcement disabling, I still get the same error when trying to install the driver.

Could this be a result of the Windows version or some of its updates?

Have you encountered a similar problem before?

Nažalost, nakon što sam Disable driver signature enforcement ukljucio i dalje mi se pojavljuje ista greška prilikom instaliranja drivera.

Da li je moguće da je to posljedica werzije windows ili nekih njegovih update-a?

Da li ste se prije susreli sa sličnim problemom?

You sent me the driver version code you are trying to install. Please send me a photo of the COM ports in Device Manager. I don’t use Windows 8 so I don’t know the direct link to check. Actually, I need a list of all open COM ports on your computer.

poslali ste mi kod verzije drivera kojeg pokušavate instalirati. Molim Vas sliku COM portova u Device manageru. Isprike, ne koristim win8 pa ne znam direktan link za provjeru.

Do you have Silicon Labs cp installed in Add/Remove programs? Were you able to disable unsigned drivers for Windows 8?

I have done a lot of reading over the weekend on forums and official pages and tried many things. The problem is with Windows 8.1, which does not have support for serial and parallel ports, which is one part of the problem.

The second part is related to your driver download link. Your link for downloading CP2102 drivers works perfectly for Windows 7 and installs easily. However, on Windows 8 and 8.1, it does not work. Silicon Labs made and adapted that same driver for Windows 8 but it is not supported by Microsoft and simply cannot be installed (the first problem I described above).

Now for the good news - Silicon Labs released new drivers for Windows five days ago on the internet, they install on Windows 8.1 without any issues and Croduino works perfectly with them (I will test installing these new drivers on Windows 10 today from the link below, I think there won’t be any problems).

Dobro jutro Tiho.

Puno sam čitao preko vikenda po forumima i na sluzbenim stranicama i svašta sam probao. Uglavnom, problem je u windowsima 8.1 koji nemaju podržane serijske i paralelne portove, to je jedan dio problema.

Drugi, (to je vezano za Vaš link za skidanje drivera). Znači… Vaš link sa kojeg se skidaju driveri za CP2102 rade savršeno za windows 7 i lako se instaliraju. Međutim na windowsima 8 i 8.1 ne, silicom lab je

napravio i namijenio taj isti driver i za windows 8 ali nije podržan od strane microsofta i jednostavno se ne može instalirati (prvi problem koji sam gore napisao).

E sad dobra vijest, silicon lab je prije pet dana na internetu objavio nove driver za windowse, instaliraju se na windowse 8.1 bez problema i croduino radi savršeno sa njima (na windows 10 ću danas isprobat

instalirati ove nove drivere sa linka ispod, mislim da neće biti problema) .

Evo pa ako se ko javi sa sličnim problemom da imate i tu opciju kao moguće riješenje. Možda ne bi bilo loše i ovaj link objaviti i na stranici od e radionice.
