Croduino Basic2 processor overheating after 12V connection

Customer:

I connected the board directly to 12V from a battery. The processor immediately got very hot. The same thing happens when I connect it to USB. Do you have any ideas what the problem might be?

Hvala puno!

Soldered Support:

The ATmega328P on the Croduino Basic2 and Basic3 boards is rated for voltages up to 5.5V. I’m almost certain it has been damaged by the direct 12V connection.
