Croduino MiniNOVA USB-UART upload fails with espcomm errors

Customer:

I’m trying to upload code to Croduino MiniNOVA via USB-UART module following your tutorial, but I get these errors:

warning: espcomm_sync failed
error: espcomm_open failed
error: espcomm_upload_mem failed
error: espcomm_upload_mem failed

My connections are:
VCC → 5V
GND → GND (next to 5V)
RX → TX
TX → RX

The LED on the ESP board blinks briefly during the procedure. When I press upload it blinks a bit more, then stops when these errors appear.

Soldered Support:

Can you confirm that you are putting the device in bootloader mode, as described at the end of this blog post: https://e-radionica.com/en/blog/how-to-program-croduino-mininova-with-arduino-ide/

Customer:

I believe I’m doing the procedure correctly. I press GPIO0, press Reset, then release Reset and then release GPIO0. Then I press upload in the IDE. When I release Reset the LED flashes briefly. Is that correct?

Can you tell me the settings for the newest ESP8266 driver? There are a lot more options now than with the old 2.0.0 version in the tutorial.

Soldered Support:

The process seems to be correct. Please check the attachment for the latest ESP8266 driver settings.

Did you try swapping the RX and TX lines? If you haven’t, can you please try that?
