Dasduino CONNECT WiFi setup and power options

Customer:

What components do I need to add to the Dasduino IoT set to get it working over WiFi? Does the beginner set have everything needed?

Original message (Croatian)

Soldered Support:

No additional components are needed. The ESP8266 microcontroller on the Dasduino CONNECT can connect to WiFi directly through code. Here’s an example to get started:

Customer:

What sensors would you recommend adding to the set? I’m looking for something specific to pair with the WiFi connectivity.

Original message (Croatian)

Check out the Qwiic/easyC sensors:

I recommend selecting a sensor that measures a value you find interesting (light, proximity, temperature/humidity, etc.) that you’d like to send over WiFi.

To connect them to the Dasduino CONNECT, you’ll only need an easyC cable:

Customer:

This is a gift for a 16-year-old. I’m not sure which sensor to choose since the set already includes several. Can the set run without laptop power? Is it practical to use a battery? Which battery would work?

Original message (Croatian)

Soldered Support:

The set needs a laptop/computer and USB cable for programming (which are included), but it can then run on a standard USB charger or battery. We have batteries that are all compatible with the Dasduino CONNECT:

When the battery is connected and the Dasduino CONNECT is plugged into USB, it charges automatically. When USB is disconnected, the Dasduino CONNECT automatically continues running on the battery.

A battery would be an excellent addition to the kit. Choose one with 2000 mAh or higher for useful runtime.

For sensors, I’d recommend:

APDS9960 gesture sensor (detects hand gestures in various directions above the sensor)

Simple rain sensor (detects rain on the probe)

LTR507 light sensor

If you add any of these sensors, make sure to also get an easyC cable for connection:

razumijem.

Power & Batteries | Li-Ion, Charging and Power Solutions – Soldered Electronics

APDS9960 senzor gesti (detektira mahanje u raznim smjerovima iznad senzora)
APDS-9960 Gesture, Proximity, & Color Sensor for Arduino – Soldered Electronics

Simple rain senzor (detektira prisutnost kiše na sondi)
https://soldered.com/product/simple-rain-sensor-board-with-easyc/

LTR507 senzor svjetlosti
Motion & Proximity | Distance and Movement Sensors – Soldered Electronics

Qwiic Cable - Easy Plug-and-Play Connection – Soldered Electronics

Can the device enter Power Saving Mode, like a sleep mode for the laptop?

Original message (Croatian)

Fala

Još jedno pitanje. Može li taj uređaj ući Power Saving Mode? (nešto kao sleep mod za laptop)

Soldered Support:

Yes, it can. Here’s a tutorial on deep sleep:
