I hooked up the HX711 module to my ESP32-C6 with power, ground, and the I2C lines SDA and SCL. When I try to read from the device using the default i2c driver from esp-idf i2c_master_read_from_device (reading 4 bytes), I get an i2c clear bus error. I’ve checked the wiring and other sensors hooked up after it work fine.

If you’re using our HX711 module with easyC/Qwiic, use this Arduino library:
Example:
If you want to parse the data from the onboard ATtiny acting as the I2C follower device, see the firmware to understand how the bits are packed.
The default I2C address should be 0x30 and you can confirm the connection by running an I2C scanner sketch.
If you’re using the default HX711 module (not the easyC version), it uses a special protocol, not I2C, and should be used with the HX711 library linked above.
Also try lowering the I2C speed on your microcontroller—the ATtiny may not be able to keep up with the default speed.
