Inkplate 10 disabling capacitive buttons and wiring physical switches

Customer:

We’re a team of designers working on a prototype. We have questions about the Inkplate 10:

• Can the capacitive buttons be bypassed on the board to connect a physical switch instead?
• If I want to wire a USB Type-C connector to a different place, which pins should I use from the bottom section?

Soldered Support:

Yes, the capacitive buttons can be disabled with the Touch pads jumpers (they are marked on the board and shown in the schematic). Once disabled, you can use those pins for your purpose - they are connected to MCP23017-1.

For USB: If you want to use it only for power, connect to VIN and GND pins. If you want communication as well, connect to CH340C (the USB to UART converter).

Just to confirm: I should remove the solder on the capacitive button pads, and then wire buttons to GPB2, 3, and 4 with the other ends going to ground? Or should they connect to INTA instead?

Soldered Support:

Yes, that’s correct, but also solder the other end of the jumpers on the left side.

Connect the buttons to GPB2, 3, and 4, with the other ends going to ground.
