Inkplate 10 eInk display not working, ribbon cable connection issue

Customer:

I’ve been testing a new Inkplate 10 but the eInk display appears broken. The board and ESP are working, but the issue seems to be with the ribbon cable for the EInk panel - when I hold it from the middle section the display works.

Soldered Support:

This looks like a poor connection with the ribbon flex cable. Try unplugging it and cleaning it with some alcohol - you can also put some alcohol into the connector and let it evaporate.

Customer:

I tried cleaning it but that didn’t work. The first 2/3 of the screen don’t show any image and there are weird behaviors when I slightly touch the ribbon. What’s the next step?

Soldered Support:

The flat cable might not be sitting far enough into the connector, so not all pins are making contact. Can you send a picture of the backside where the flat cable and connector are? Also check whether the flat cable is entering the connector properly - it needs to enter 2mm.
