Customer:
When unplugging the Inkplate 10 and plugging it back in after some time, I need to click the power button to get the screen working again. I need the screen to work immediately when power returns without clicking the button. The power source is a solar panel, and when there’s no sunlight for a period of time, the screen won’t work after power returns until I manually press the button.

Soldered Support:
This could potentially be done via hardware, though it’s untested and not an officially supported feature.
The reset circuit for Inkplate has a power switch that needs to be shorted momentarily for the device to boot. You could use a capacitor for this, but you’d also need to figure out how to discharge it.
Alternatively, instead of fully unplugging the device, you could keep it plugged in and use deep sleep mode. From deep sleep, the device can be awakened at any interval to refresh the data. If this doesn’t work for your use case, let me know and I can investigate further.
Customer:
The first solution seems too complicated for me. I’m already using deep sleep in my code, which works when power is available. However, when using a solar panel as the power source and there’s no sunlight for several days, the screen doesn’t work when sunlight returns and power comes back - I still need to click the power button. Is there a way to implement this in code? I’ve attached my current code for review.

I’ve done some additional investigating. Do you have a newer version of Inkplate - specifically a ‘Soldered Inkplate 10’ with the purple PCB? If so, these have a jumper you can short to accomplish this. The jumper location is shown on the schematic and the board itself. Try connecting this jumper and let me know if it works.
