Inkplate 10 TAA compliance and manufacturing origin

Customer:

I’m looking at replacing a whiteboard with an e-ink display and believe the Inkplate 10 would be a great choice. From the github/wiki, there are lots of examples to get started. However, I first need to confirm that the Inkplate 10 is TAA compliant. I understand you’re headquartered in Croatia, which is a TAA compliant country, but where is the Inkplate manufactured?

Soldered Support:

The Inkplate 10 itself is an Arduino board - you don’t need to wire a separate Arduino to it. You plug it in your computer via USB-C and upload the Arduino examples from the Inkplate library: GitHub - SolderedElectronics/Inkplate-Arduino-library: Inkplate family Arduino library. We are located in Osijek, Croatia and Inkplate devices get manufactured here. We are TAA compliant.

Is there already an example of updating the display based on text sent over serial, or will that be something I have to develop? I can see the example “Bluetooth_Serial” - I’m trying to leverage what’s already out there.

Soldered Support:

We are currently working on an update to our ‘Peripheral mode’ sketch and the Inkplate documentation. This peripheral mode sketch is a way to control Inkplate over Serial commands with the full range of the Inkplate library. The updated peripheral mode sketch will be posted to the Inkplate library as one of the examples within about a month.

Developing your own way of displaying data received over Serial would not be very difficult as this is relatively basic Arduino usage: Arduino - How to Get a String from Serial with readString() - The Robotics Back-End

The Bluetooth serial example receives a string over Bluetooth and prints it, but it’s up to you to do whatever you want with the received string.

Most projects with Inkplate are a cross between two examples or an example with some custom code in part of it - the examples are structured this way. An update to the library will be released within a day or two with some fixed examples like for Google Calendar and the News example.
