Customer:
I was working on some new code for my Inkplate 10 and started receiving an error during upload. I have reset the board, changed USB cables, and restarted my computer. The error occurs after the stub starts running and the baud rate changes to 921600:
A fatal error occurred: Unable to verify flash chip connection (Packet content transfer stopped (received 7 bytes)).
Failed uploading: uploading error: exit status 2
The sketch compiles successfully (379081 bytes, 12% of program storage). What could be causing this?

Soldered Support:
Check that you have the correct board definition selected. From your output, the chip is detected as ESP32-D0WD-V3. Make sure you’re using the Soldered Inkplate 10 or e-Radionica Inkplate 10 board definition in Arduino IDE - one of these two should be the correct choice.
Customer:
I have Soldered Inkplate 10 as the board selected in Arduino IDE, and I also tried e-Radionica Inkplate 10, but both still fail to upload. Is there a setting I need to change to get the right board definition?
Soldered Support:
It’s unusual that Arduino appears to be overriding the board selection. Which Arduino IDE version are you running? Use the latest version if you haven’t already.
Try reinstalling the board definition with a full cache clear. Here’s how:
- Locate the Arduino Board Definitions Folder
Windows: Navigate to C:\Users[user]\AppData\Local\Arduino15, or press Win + R, type %localappdata%\Arduino15, and press Enter.
Linux: Open a terminal and run: cd ~/.arduino15
macOS: Open Finder, press Cmd + Shift + G, and enter ~/Library/Arduino15, or open a terminal and run: cd ~/Library/Arduino15
- Delete Board Definitions
Inside the Arduino15 folder, delete the board package folder for Inkplate, located under packages/inkplate_boards. Also delete the package_index.json files, which contain references to board definitions.
- Restart Arduino IDE
Close and restart Arduino IDE to refresh the board list.
- Reinstall Inkplate Board Definitions
Reinstall the Inkplate boards using the same method you used originally.
Then try uploading your code again. This often resolves board definition issues.
