Inkplate 10 waveform load failed error and blank screen

Customer:

I have an Inkplate 10 that was working fine until suddenly I started getting this error:

Wavefrom load failed! Upload new waveform in EEPROM. Using default waveform.

Nothing loads on the screen. I’ve tried the EEPROM examples and get the same message with nothing displayed on the screen, so I can’t even reset it. Is there anything I can do to get it working again?

This bug doesn’t mean the device died - it just needs reconfiguring.

I’ve made a sketch that modifies the Inkplate 10 testing sketch. You can use it to set Inkplate’s VCOM and waveform.

Upload it and open the Serial monitor at 115200 baud and follow the instructions. Your VCOM value is likely around -1.5. Check if the flat cable connector of the ePaper has any sticker with a negative number on it in this range. If not, try -1.5 and adjust this value by slightly up or down (+0.1, -0.1) if needed. For the waveform, pick one that looks best.

After setting the waveform, Inkplate should no longer display the error message.

Here is the sketch you should upload:
