Inkplate 2 display not refreshing after deep sleep wake

Customer:

After backing the Kickstarter project, I finally got time to work with the device. It’s great, but after playing with different examples and some modifications, the screen doesn’t refresh—the last image stays there. I tried uploading the hello_world example but the previous image remains, and serial print doesn’t show up either.

The serial print does work. I added a wake up function from deep sleep to the hello_world example. It prints the following:

19:56:59.985 → rst:0x5 (DEEPSLEEP_RESET),boot:0x13 (SPI_FAST_FLASH_BOOT)
19:56:59.985 → configsip: 0, SPIWP:0xee
19:56:59.985 → clk_drv:0x00,q_drv:0x00,d_drv:0x00,cs0_drv:0x00,hd_drv:0x00,wp_drv:0x00
19:56:59.985 → mode:DIO, clock div:1
19:56:59.985 → load:0x3fff0030,len:1344
19:56:59.985 → load: ,len:13864
19:56:59.985 → load: ,len:3608
19:56:59.985 → entry 0x400805f0

Unfortunately the display will not refresh with the new text according to the code:

display.print("Hello World!"); // Print "Hello World!" at the set position
display.display(); // Refresh the e-paper display to show changes

Soldered Support:

Try these troubleshooting steps:

  1. Make sure you have installed the ch340 drivers and have selected the right board in the board definition in the Arduino IDE. This is explained in the documentation. These sometimes cause the panel to not refresh.
  2. Try refitting the ribbon cable of the Inkplate 2 on the back of the PCB—it may have become loose during storage.
  3. If both of these fail and you have a soldering iron, you could try disconnecting the GND terminal for a few seconds and soldering it back on.

Refitting the ribbon cable on the back of the PCB worked!
