Customer:
I got my Inkplate 2 this week and I’m trying to add it to the Arduino IDE. I downloaded a clone from your GitHub but Arduino refuses to recognize the files as valid libraries, and I can’t figure out how to add the boards either.

Here’s how to set it up:
- Download the main branch of the Inkplate library and extract it somewhere on your computer
- Go to your Arduino folder (on Windows it’s in Documents/arduino) and find the ‘libraries’ folder. The full path is “C:\Users[user]\Documents\Arduino\libraries”
- Paste the contents of the extracted zip into this folder. The key point is that in the “Inkplate-Arduino-library” folder there should be no further subfolders - just the contents of the .zip directly. This is usually the issue when Arduino IDE can’t detect installed libraries.
- Open Arduino IDE and check if you can load the examples for the Inkplate library under File > Examples > InkplateLibrary
- Note that the library is usually tested with Arduino IDE legacy (version 1.8.18) which can be found here: https://wiki-content.arduino.cc/en/software/OldSoftwareReleases - if it doesn’t work with the current IDE, try the legacy version.
- To install the board definitions, follow the readme at the bottom of this page: GitHub - SolderedElectronics/Dasduino-Board-Definitions-for-Arduino-IDE · GitHub
