Customer:
I received the Inkplate 2 device with its enclosure and lithium cell pack. How do I use, power on, or activate it without an Arduino controller? I have Windows 11 with the Arduino IDE software but want to use the Inkplate 2 as a standalone unit.

Soldered Support:
Inkplate 2 is based on the ESP32 microcontroller, which you can see on the back of the device. This is a microcontroller much like the ones found on Arduino boards (like the ATmega328P is on the Arduino Uno, for example). The microcontroller runs your code on the device itself.
To use Inkplate 2 and upload your own code to it you don’t need any external devices. Just the Inkplate, a USB-C cable and your computer. Inkplate 2 powers on automatically after you connect the USB cable. We made uploading and writing code for Inkplate 2 possible in the Arduino IDE because it’s something most users are already familiar with and have installed.
