Customer:
I have recently bought two Inkplate 5 Gen 2 displays. Is it possible to run these on 3 x NiMH batteries at 3.6 V instead of a Lipo, provided I don’t connect to USB-C at the same time?

Soldered Support:
The onboard charger MCP73831T is made for Li-Ion batteries only and using it with different batteries can damage the batteries and Inkplate’s internals. Instead, you can use a boost converter to power Inkplate via these batteries through the onboard USB-C port, functioning like an external USB-C power supply.

I now have a Lithium-Ion battery running. After disconnecting the USB-C plug with the battery remaining connected, the power LED stayed on. How can I turn the power LED off while running on battery to reduce power draw?

Soldered Support:
Check the power LED switch on the back of the Inkplate 5 Gen 2. It turns off the power LED directly, reducing power draw when you don’t need the indicator.
