Inkplate 5 interrupt pins available for LoRa callback

Customer:

I need to use a LoRa callback, which requires an interrupt pin (or 2 interrupt pins for LoRaWAN). I see GPIO34, GPIO35, GPIO36 and GPIO39 are available on the header, but they appear to be in use:

  • GPIO_34 is connected to INTB of PCAL. Does the library require this interrupt for the expander to work, or can I change JP4? I need the expander pins.
  • GPIO_35 is not usable as I need the battery.
  • GPIO_36 is for the WAKE_UP button. Could I use it by unsoldering the 100k resistor?
  • GPIO_39 is an interrupt pin from PCF8503A, but you use it in an example for interrupt. Does the library require this interrupt or can I change JP2?

What would be the best solution?

Soldered Support:

The library does not require INTB to be connected for Inkplate to work, so you can use GPIO34. The design is flexible so you can use only what you need.

For the wake up button on GPIO36, if you don’t touch the switch, you can use this pin. It has an external pull-up resistor, which can sometimes be useful.

For GPIO39, the RTC interrupt is needed only if you use it in your code. If you don’t use it, it’s available.

I’d recommend using GPIO34 since it’s just a jumper which you could easily revert back with a solder connection if needed.
