Inkplate 5V2 – Bypass power switch with USB power

Hi there,

as documented at Inkplate 5V2 – Bypass power switch | Soldered Documentation, I’m trying to get my new Inkplate 5v2 powered directly when power is attached via USB port.

I’ve soldered R34 as described, but device does not power on automatically when power is attached.
Do I have to set something via software?
I’m using ESPhome.

Ah, I think I’ve got it.

The Inkplate does turn on, but the Power LED stays off. It only turns on when explicitely pressing power button.

Is this expected behaviour?

Hello Matthias,
Yes, the power LED is connected to the MOSFET of the power button, so the button must be pressed for the LED to shine.
You can bypass the power button by soldering a wire directly to 3v3 for the LED to work whenever it is powered via USB.
